M60 and A62 closed after serious crash overnight - latest updates

A serious collision on the M60 at junction 22 has led to the closure of a number of roads. Accident investigation work is under way.

The M60 anti-clockwise exit slip road at junction 22 has been closed. The A62 is also closed at the crossing over the top of the M60.

The A6104 has been closed in both directions as well. The incident was first reported just after midnight during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Traffic monitoring service Inrix said: "A6104 Hollinwood Avenue in both directions closed due to accident investigation work from M60 J22 (Failsworth) to Tweedale Way (Morrisons). Following a serious accident first reported just after midnight. The A62 Manchester Road is also closed at the crossing over the top of the M60, while the M60 J22 anti-clockwise exit slip road is also shut."

A separate update from Inrix at 3.50am said: "M60 anticlockwise exit slip road closed due to serious accident at J22 A62 Manchester Road (Failsworth). Due to the accident closing the A6104 and A62 at the top of the slip road."

The M60 anticlockwise exit slip road is closed at junction J22.

National Highways says on its website that the event is expected to clear and normal traffic
