M4 closed for emergency repairs with hours of disruption expected - live updates
A busy stretch of the M4 is closed this morning for emergency repairs, causing drivers further travel disruption amidst a Met Office yellow weather warning.
The M4 is currently closed between J38 at Margam and J37 at Pyle in the eastbound direction for the roadworks. It was closed shortly after midnight and is expected to remain in place "throughout the morning".
Traffic is being diverted to the A48 at Pyle.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "The closure will remain in place during the daylight hours, there is no known timescale for the re-opening of the carriageway.
"Please avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. We're grateful for your patience."
It comes as drivers are facing disruption elsewhere this morning due to flooded roads. You can follow all the latest on the weather here.
