M4 accident shuts two lanes near Newport causing very heavy traffic
An M4 accident shut two lanes of the M4 near Newport on Thursday morning. The accident happened on the westbound carriageway at junction 28 Tredegar Park.
All lanes reopened around 11.45am but traffic cameras show heavy traffic remains in the area and fire engines were at the scene. All three lanes were blocked for a time on Thursday morning but one lane has re-opened some traffic is getting past.
By 11.45am, traffic had returned to normal for the time of day although conditions remained wet.
Rain has led to difficult driving conditions on the M4 this morning and more bad weather is set to come as the Met Office has named a Storm Lilian. There are 11 flood alerts in place in Wales and earlier this morning a fallen tree closed a major rail line.
