Lyle Taylor makes 'ridiculous' admission after Nottingham Forest loan exit

Lyle Taylor has admitted playing regular football again felt “alien” following his lack of game time at Nottingham Forest.

Taylor left the City Ground on loan in January, joining Championship rivals Birmingham City for the rest of the season.

After struggling to force his way into Forest boss Steven Cooper’s plans, Taylor has been become a key man under Lee Bowyer at St Andrew’s, scoring three goals in six games, including one against Derby County.

Taylor said it took him time to get used to playing regularly again but says he is enjoying life with the Blues.

"I'm back playing football, so I'm happy, and I suppose, for me, it's more about reminding people that I do still play football," the Montserrat international told 72+, the BBC's Football League podcast.

"It sounds ridiculous, but when you've been through 18 months where you haven't played much football, it's almost alien getting back into it.

"I'm enjoying being back playing, and I'm enjoying my time at Birmingham so far."

Birmingham fans have certainly taken to Taylor, who came second in a recent poll run by our sister website, BirminghamLive, which asked supporters which player the club should prioritise signing on a permanent basis in the summer.

Just under 37 per cent of respondents said Taylor should be prioritised, while 46.6 per cent answered with Onel Hernandez.

Taylor can do his parent club a favour on Saturday as the Blues host play-off chasing Huddersfield Town.
