Luncarty forward Rhys Davies hoping latest hat-trick sparks festive scoring run

Lethal Luncarty striker Rhys Davies hopes his weekend hat-trick is the catalyst for a barrage of goals over the festive period.

The Bleachers’ forward raised pre-Christmas spirits at Brownlands Park last Saturday when his three goals played their part in a 5-1 East of Scotland Qualifying Cup win against Penicuik.

Kyle Green and Ben Scarborough also found the back of the net as the new management team fronted up by Mark Baxter celebrated victory.

Davies, a prolific scorer through the years, told the PA: “I’m always happy to get a hat-trick because I base my game on getting goals.

“I’ve not been hitting the net as much as I’d like this season but hopefully this can kick-start the goals for me.”

He added: “It was a good team performance all round against Penicuik.

“For the best part of 75 minutes we moved the ball quickly and we were more clinical going forward than we have been in recent weeks.

“We did, however, switch off at times and conceded which was the only real negative.”

Luncarty, who sit second bottom of the Premier Division, are pencilled in to face Hutchison Vale through in Edinburgh tomorrow.

“The new management have come in and it’s been good,” Davies continued. “Everything is positive and training has been to a high standard so hopefully we’re going in the right direction.

“I’m expecting a tough game this weekend but we desperately need to start picking up points so hopefully we can kick on from here.”
