Luke Littler achieves Premier League Darts goal despite Michael van Gerwen blow

Luke Littler, despite experiencing a heartbreaking loss in the final of Night 2's Premier League Darts competition in Berlin, has once again lived up to his expectations. Littler made a name for himself with an impressive run at the World Championship, where he reached the final.

On his Premier League debut, Littler beat Luke Humphries in the quarter-final of Night 1, only to be narrowly defeated by Michael Smith in the semi-finals. Despite this setback, Littler put on a strong performance at Night 2 in Berlin.

The 17-year-old won his first game against Rob Cross, but lost the final to Michael van Gerwen. However, he still achieved his goal. "I just want to win that first game every week and get the two points on the board. Then hopefully win the semi and the final," Littler told Sky Sports before the second night of action.

He added: "Rob [Cross] is a good lad. I've known him for a few years now. He might want revenge [for the World Championship semi-final], he might not. As I said, I just want to get the two points on the board."

Cross just managed to win against him in their quarter-final with a close 6-5 victory. Then, Cross had to play Humphries again in the semi-final, and it was another tight game.

But Littler beat the world champion to get to the final, where he faced Van Gerwen. 'The Nuke' almost won, but he missed two chances to finish the match on double 10.

Littler kept up with 'Mighty Mike', even though Van Gerwen was playing really well with an average score of 113.66. The match was very close with scores like 3-3, 4-4, and 5-5
