Lukaku, Ronaldo, Zlatan: Who has the best mins-per-goal in Serie A since 99/00?

Romelu Lukaku has officially completed a switch to Inter Milan on loan until June 2023.

After a fairly dismal 2021/22 season following an ill-fated £95 million return to Chelsea last summer, the Belgian is back at the club where he previously wreaked havoc on defenders.

Lukaku first joined Inter from Manchester United in the summer of 2019 and he took to Italian football like a duck to water.

In the space of just two years at the famous club, the 29-year-old rippled the back of the net 64 times across all competitions.

Lukaku’s brilliance throughout the 2020/21 season also helped Inter win the Serie A title for the first time in over a decade.

The striker scored 24 league goals during that campaign, which was one more than he managed in 2019/20.

Not bad returns, eh? Lukaku and the Italian top-flight are simply made for each other and that’s further highlighted by his very impressive minutes-per-goal record in the division.

Since the start of the 1999/2000 season, only two players sit ahead of Belgium’s record goalscorer in that regard, according to Transfermarkt‘s database.

Let’s take a look at who they are and the other 22 players with the best minutes-per-goal records in Serie A over the past 23 years…
