Luis Palma in veiled Celtic 'trust' swipe at Brendan Rodgers as Olympiacos loanee finally gets his wish
Olympiacos loanee Luis Palma has thanked his new boss for the "trust" he has shown him after the winger finally made his debut.
The Honduran admitted he was left waiting for his chance having been on the fringes of the Celtic squad this season by Brendan Rodgers - and finally got his wish in the 4-0 win over Panserraikos on Sunday. The winger left the Greek Super League in 2023 after a successful campaign with Aris - but made his return on a temporary deal from the Scottish Premiership leaders.
The 25-year-old made just 10 appearances in all competitions this season with the return of Jota at Celtic signalling the end for Palma this term. And after chipping in with an assist on his debut he saved a special mention for boss Jose Luis Mendilibar for giving him the nod after a tough campaign to this point.
Speaking to Nova Sports, he said: "It was an opportunity I was anxiously waiting for a chance this season. I thank the coach for the trust. I have been waiting for that.
"We knew it was important to score a quick goal to get the win and we did it. I will try to give my best and help the team achieve its goals, providing goals and assists."
