Luis Diaz's Incredible Reaction To Meeting Virgil Van Dijk In Person At Liverpool's Training Centre Goes Viral

Liverpool on Saturday uploaded to the club’s YouTube page a video of Diaz’s arrival at the Reds and meeting Jurgen Klopp and his new teammates.

During his visit to Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre, Diaz was warmly welcomed by Van Dijk and received a hug from the 30-year-old Dutch defender.

The Colombia international is around 5’8” and was dwarfed by the 6’3” Van Dijk, with Liverpool’s January signing stunned by the size of his new teammate.

Following his exchange with Van Dijk, Diaz said: “He is so big.”

Diaz proceeded to enter a separate room for a meeting with Liverpool assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders and Reds boss Klopp.

However, the former Porto winger doubled down on his comments and marvelled at Van Dijk’s height, which was met with laughter from Klopp.

“Van Dijk… yes, so big! But he is fast with his feet. He is a very technical player,” Diaz said.

Fans adored the wholesome interaction between Van Dijk and Diaz, which quickly made the rounds on social media.

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson also took to Twitter to welcome Diaz to Anfield after meeting the Colombia winger at the AXA Training Centre.

“Bumped into someone you might have heard of today... Bienvenido Luis,” he tweeted.

Speaking on Liverpool’s training facilities, Diaz added: “It’s very nice here [AXA Training Centre], it’s a pleasure for me.”

The Liverpool winger, who will wear the No 23 shirt, has been named on the bench for his side’s FA Cup clash against Cardiff City at Anfield on Sunday.

“It’s not easy to sit around in Paris waiting for the papers,” he said.

“It is not the best time in your life and doesn’t help with recovery. Let’s have a look.

“I wouldn’t say no because I would be excited as well about giving him a few minutes at a sold-out Anfield.”
