Luggage rules for Ryanair, easyJet, Jet2, TUI and British Airways

With the holiday season very much approaching for many families up and down the country, it’s important to be aware of all the rules and regulations that each airline puts in place for people flying with one of their aircraft. Sending luggage with an airline should be one of the most straightforward aspects of a trip abroad, but it can often be one of the more arduous tasks.

Despite being something which should be simple, it requires plenty of effort and research, largely down to each airline having its own unique rules. From the number of bags to the size and weight allowances to the prices, there are countless aspects of cabin and hand luggage that need to be brushed up on.

A small personal bag, stipulated as 40cm x 25cm x 20cm which must fit under the seat in front of you, is included in all passenger fare types. If you’re in need of more room, there are additional bag options for purchase.

Priority & 2 Cabin Bags gives customers the benefit of boarding the plane via the Priority Queue and allows occupants to add a 10kg wheelie bag (55cm x 40cm x 20cm and stored in the overhead locker) to their small personal bag on board. Priced between £8 and £32, this will mean you won't need to wait for your bag at the destination’s terminal.

A 10kg Check-in Bag can also be purchased with Ryanair, offering a cheaper checked bag option. Its website states that “customers can also pack more liquids into a 10kg checked wheelie bag and walk to the boarding gate 'hands free'.” Customers will check-in
