Lucas Moura has told his teammates ‘there is no time to cry’ after Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to Brighton dented their hopes of a top-four finish. Leandro Trossard scored a 90th minute winner in north London on Saturday to end Spurs’ four-match winning streak, but they remained fourth in the table after Arsenal lost to Southampton.

However, the defeat did allow Manchester United to close the gap to Antonio Conte’s side to three points following their 3-2 win over Norwich. Spurs had scored 16 goals in their previous five matches but failed to muster a single shot on target in an insipid display against the Seagulls.

Moura, who replaced Dejan Kulusevski in the second half, conceded that the Lilywhites were below par, but insisted that they needed to put it behind them and focus on their primary goal of bringing Champions League football back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
