Loyal Leicester City fans angered by ticket offer as Youri Tielemans told transfer is risky

Leicester City were forced to shut down a ticket offer after a promotional code leaked and prompted anger from loyal supporters.

As part of a deal with an affiliate partner, Cool as Leicester, City were selling half-price tickets to next week’s Europa Conference League quarter-final first leg against PSV Eindhoven. While the offer was exclusively for Cool as Leicester members, the promotional code needed to access it spread online, with other supporters taking advantage.

When the club realised there had been a leak, the promotion was closed. It’s understood fewer than 200 tickets were sold at half price. However, awareness of the offer has led to anger among supporters who bought their seats for the game before they were able to take up such a promotion. Read what fans have said here.

Youri Tielemans would be taking a “maximum risk” to leave Leicester City this summer, former Belgian international Philippe Albert believes.

Tielemans’ future has been one of the hot topics at City, with the midfielder mulling over his options, not yet signing a new contract at the King Power Stadium that has been in the works for more than a year.

Arsenal and Manchester United are among the sides who have been linked with him, with a decision likely to be required this summer, when he enters the final 12 months of his deal at City.

In terms of his Belgium chances, former Newcastle defender Albert believes Tielemans may be better off staying put. Adjusting to a new club just a few months before a World Cup could damage his chances of making the starting line-up for Roberto Martinez’s side, he has said. Read Albert's explanation here.
