Loose Women and Corrie stars "fly the flag" for International Women's Day in Manchester

There was laughter, music and tears as Loose Women and Coronation Street stars joined forces for a special event for International Women's Day in Manchester.

Event planner to the stars Liz Taylor organised the event at The Lowry Hotel on Friday inviting showbiz friends to entertain a room of 200 women.

Loose Women's Ruth Langsford and Brenda Edwards, TV presenters Anjellica Bell and Lizzie Cundy, Coronation Street star Jodie Prenger and Rosie Nixon led a lively discussion covering topics ranging from imposter syndrome, ageism, levelling the playing field and the importance of supportive female relationships.

Brenda said at the event: "You've always got to inspire other women and lift them up, champion them. It's so important for women to come together and champion each other in these times and celebrate our own unique personalities."

Coronation Street star Jodie was so inspired by the many women at the event she said they should all start a movement together. She said: "It's absolutely phenomenal today, I've looked around and I thought what if we get a couple of coaches and take all these women down to 10 Downing Street to take over Parliament, we could have things sorted in a week."

Entrepreneur Liz has organised events for the likes of Hollywood and the Royal Family over the years. She said: "This year I decided to go big, I invited all of the ladies who had been interviewed on my podcast and see if they'd come along and share their stories.

"International Women's Day is important, but we shouldn't have just one day to celebrate being female. We're all successful, like-minded individuals and we're here to fly the flag."
