Loose forward ace Evan Roos signs new Stormers deal: 'My rugby career has been transformed here'

Springbok loose forward Evan Roos has signed a contract extension with the Stormers until at least 2027.

The former Paarl Boys' High scholar, 24, already has over 50 Stormers caps to his name after joining the senior ranks in early 2021.

In his first URC season, Roos was named Players' Player of the Season, the Next-Gen Player of the Season, and the Fans' Player of the Season. He went on to make his Springbok debut shortly after claiming the URC title in 2022.

Stormers director of rugby John Dobson welcomed the news of the burly No 8 staying put in Cape Town.

"Evan has been simply sensational since joining us three years ago and at just 24, there is still plenty more to come from him in a Stormers jersey.

"He brings physicality, pace and most of all a fantastic attitude to everything he does and we look forward to watching him continue to grow in our system," Dobson said in a statement.

Roos' contract extension is the latest in a number of new deals confirmed by the Stormers in recent weeks.

Other players who signed new deals with the Cape franchise include centre Dan du Plessis, young backline star Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, locks JD Shickerling and Ruben van Heerden, and prop Steven Kitshoff.

"These extensions and a few more that will be announced soon show that the key players in this squad are committed to our vision and have bought in to build something special over the next few years, which is very exciting," Dobson added.

Roos said that the decision to sign a three-year contract extension was an easy one.

"My rugby career has been transformed here at the Stormers and playing for this team means
