'Looking forward to going home' - Lewis Hamilton makes his feelings clear about Saudi GP

If there’s one man you listen to in the Formula 1 world, it’s seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

However, this weekend has been off to a dramatic start and may be a forgettable one for him.

He did not get beyond Q1 and consequently will probably start from the pit lane. Undoubtedly his worst performance for a number of years, qualifying in a measly 16th position.

He refused to place the blame on the war and instead admitted responsibility for incorrect car setup. It’s evident Mercedes requires improvement and Hamilton is far from optimistic.

He made his thoughts about the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and its lack of human rights very known to F1 fans across the world, who would tune in and listen to the British driver when expressing his views.

Hamilton is commonly known to champion equality and human rights, but in Saudi Arabia they are still very behind, and this didn’t seem to sit right with Hamilton.

It’s got to the point that experts and critics have become to question whether F1 should even operate in countries with poor political views and Hamilton already knows his answer to that question.

Other drivers have shared his concern with the humanity of Saudi Arabia, but may have put it in a more diplomatic fashion. Fernando Alonso has shared his views.

“We are here. We have to make sure everyone’s safety is guaranteed. We drivers were worried not only about ourselves, but also about you journalists. Of course, also about the mechanics and the fans.”

In his interview, that has been shared online numerous times, when asked about his state of mind about the race given his experience already, he said: “I’m looking forward to going home.”
