"Look at again": Sky Sports reporter tips Spurs to revive interest in "complete" 52-cap star
According to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge, Tottenham Hotspur ‘may be looking’ to sign AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie in the summer.
Spurs enjoyed a productive transfer Deadline Day last month, bringing in Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus, but new manager Antonio Conte may already have his eye on further acquisitions.
Kessie could be one player who the Italian tactician is hoping to bring to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of next season due to his ongoing contract situation.
The 52-cap Ivory Coast international has entered the final five months of his existing deal and has been linked with a host of European football’s top clubs after failing to agree fresh terms with Milan.
According to Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio (via Milan News), Kessie has already turned down a €6.5 million (£5.4m) per year contract offer from the Rossoneri hierarchy.
It’s claimed the defensive-minded maestro is demanding €9m (£7.5m), opening the door to a possible exit following the conclusion of 2021/22.
Since arriving at San Siro on an initial loan deal back in July 2017, Kessie has become a crucial cog in Milan’s engine room, making 205 appearances in all competitions and racking up 51 goal contributions along the way.
However, he could be set to seek a new challenge for next season after becoming disgruntled with life at the seven-time European champions.
Conte’s north London revolution got off to a steady start in January, although he did manage to make some amendments to his midfield, bringing in Bentancur and sanctioning the exits of Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele.
Kessie may be the next piece of the jigsaw for the former Chelsea and Inter boss, and Bridge revealed in an interview with GiveMeSport
