Longsight crash leaves pedestrians with 'life changing' and 'serious' injuries

Police are searching for witnesses after a pedestrian suffered life-changing injuries in a crash in Longsight which also injured another pedestrian.

Police say the two pedestrians were ‘hit by a vehicle on Clarence Road in Longsight’, at roughly 9am today (Tuesday, July 18). One of the pedestrians is thought to have sustained potentially life-changing injuries and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

The other pedestrian also sustained serious injuries, but they are not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening. GMP has also confirmed that a female motorist has been arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and remains in custody for questioning.

"This was a devastating incident that has left two people with serious injuries,” said PC Riley-Owens from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit.

"We are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the accident, or who may have CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage of the scene in the moments before, or at the time, of the incident to get in touch with us, so we are able to determine what happened leading up to the accident.”
