Liverpool: When 10-year-old Man Utd fan cheekily asked Klopp to 'never win again'

Back in January 2020, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side were in the midst of record-breaking unbeaten run in the Premier League.

The Reds hadn’t tasted defeat in the English top-flight since losing 2-1 at Manchester City a full year earlier.

Things were also going pretty well for Liverpool on the European front, with the reigning Champions League winners safely through to the last 16 of the 2019/20 tournament after topping their group.

All this success on Merseyside wasn’t easy for Manchester United fans to swallow. One 10-year-old Red Devils supporter, in particular, struggled with seeing his team’s fierce rivals in such impressive form and took it upon himself to contact the Liverpool boss to ‘complain’.

“Dear Jurgen Klopp, My name is Daragh. I am 10 years old,” wrote the youngster, expressing his concern over Liverpool’s dominance in a letter to the charismatic German.

“I go to Glenswilly N.S in Donegal. I support Man United and the reason I am writing is to complain.

“Liverpool are winning too many games. If you win nine more games then you have the best unbeaten run in English football. Being a United fan that is very sad.

“So the next time Liverpool play please make them lose. You should just let the other team score. I hope I have convinced you to not win the league or win another match ever again. Yours sincerely, Daragh.”

As much as Daragh’s request would have spiced up a Premier League title race that Liverpool were completely dominating, Klopp could not offer the United fan false hope.

Displaying the sort of class that we have become accustomed to, he penned a brilliant response to the fan’s appeal.

Klopp explained: “Unfortunately, on this occasion I cannot grant your request, not through choice anyway.
