Harry Kane would finally link up with role model Cristiano Ronaldo by securing a transfer to Manchester United.

The 28-year-old has openly heaped praise on one of his footballing idols throughout his career, even asking for the superstar's shirt when his Tottenham Hotspur met Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Mirror Football understands that United are weighing up whether to swoop for Kane in the summer window, with bitter rivals Manchester City expected to prioritise Erling Haaland.

And a move to Old Trafford could see the England captain partner with Ronaldo, who he labelled a "big role model" following Tottenham's hearty 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2017.

"I asked for his shirt," Kane revealed post-match. "He's a big role model of mine, watching him when I was growing up.

"It's a nice shirt to get and frame. I gave him my shirt. I don't know what he'll do with it. We just said, 'see you in a couple of weeks'."
