Liverpool vs Real Madrid: Karim Benzema has goal controversially ruled out in CL final

There was drama at the end of the first-half of the Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid.

It was the Reds who dominated the majority of the first-half.

Thibaut Courtois was called upon on a number of occasions, denying Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah with fantastic saves.

Karim Benzema then thought he had given his side the lead just before half-time.

After spurning a chance, the ball then fortuitously fell back to him and he made no mistake at the second time of asking.

However, the offside flag was raised and the goal was ruled out.

Federico Valverde appeared to get a touch to the ball. It then struck Fabinho and made its way to Benzema, who was in an offside position.

Following a VAR check that lasted an eternity, it was decided that the on-field decision was the right one and the goal was ruled out.
