Liverpool vs Man City: Erling Haaland’s prediction when he faced Reds in 2019

All eyes will once again be on Erling Haaland as Manchester City travel to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

City’s No. 9 has enjoyed a dream start to life at the Etihad Stadium following his £51 million move from Borussia Dortmund.

We’re only halfway through October but the Norwegian has already scored a remarkable 20 goals for City in just 13 appearances.

Haaland has also netted 15 Premier League goals in nine games, including three hat-tricks.

Jurgen Klopp is the next manager tasked with the unenviable challenge of thwarting the prolific 22-year-old.

The revered German coach has managed to prevent Haaland from scoring against his team on two previous occasions, most-recently in the Community Shield at the start of the season.

However, Haaland found the net in his first game against Liverpool while playing for Red Bull Salzburg in October 2019.

Liverpool won the game 4-3 but Haaland, who was only 19 at the time, certainly caught the eye at Anfield.

Two months later, before the return fixture in Austria, Haaland told a journalist that he would score a hat-trick against the Reds - who were arguably the world’s best team at the time.
