Only three Premier League players make Europe’s top 10 for most appearances for club and country this season. All three play in Liverpool’s attack.

Here are the 10 players from the five big European leagues to have played the highest number of games this season, which started on July 1, because Transfermarkt. 

10) Sofiane Diop (Monaco & France) – 50 appearances

The Monaco midfielder’s international appearances have come for France Under-21s as a starter in all eight of their European Under-21 Championship qualifiers this season, in which they won seven and conceded only once. Diop, who looked to be on his way out of Monaco before Niko Kovac intervened, started on the bench for the 5-0 win over Northern Ireland Under-21s on Monday but came off it to score once and offer another assist.

9) Lautaro Martínez (Inter Milan & Argentina) – 50 appearances

Club appearances: 39

International appearances: 11

Total minutes: 3356

Martinez had a £100million price tag on his head 18 months ago but the Argentina striker could go for just over half that figure in the summer. A haul of 24 goals at a rate of almost one in two games is said to have caught Arsenal’s eye.
