Gareth Southgate might have just done enough to convince Jurgen Klopp to go ahead and splash the cash on Jude Bellingham this summer. The Borussia Dortmund star has been strongly linked with Liverpool but the midfielder will have a hefty price tag.
Bellingham has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United also said to be interested. However, Southgate has now explained why Bellingham could be perfect for Liverpool's tactical system.
The Borussia Dortmund wonderkid has played in a number of midfield positions throughout his short career, and famously wears the number 22 for the German side due to his ability to play as either an eight, a ten or a six.
Dortmund will resist attempts to prise Bellingham away from the club as they expect to lose Erling Haaland, with Manchester City and Real Madrid interested. The Bundesliga outfit try to limit key departures to at most one, having lost Jadon Sancho the year before.
It means that it is likely that Bellingham stays at the Signal Iduna Park for at least one more season. But Southgate has urged the teenager to return to England soon where the Premier League would suit his development,
