Liverpool star admits he is thinking about catching teammate in assist table ahead of final day

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has admitted he has been thinking about catching teammate Mohamed Salah in the Premier League assist rankings.

Salah currently leads the league with 14 so far this season but Alexander-Arnold is hot on his heels with 13.

The Egyptian winger is a doubt for the final weekend clash at home to Wolves due to an injury that he picked up in the FA Cup final weekend.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has said that he could be available but a seat on the bench is more likely for the 29-year-old and that could give Alexander-Arnold that chance to match, or overtake, his teammate.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, when askes if he had given any though to the battle, the defender admitted: “I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t! Yeah, it is. I don’t know how he feels about it but I’d like to maybe just get one and we’d be able to share the trophy.
