Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp complains about fixtures ahead of Community Shield

Liverpool‘s new season begins in earnest this weekend as they face Manchester City in the Community Shield.

After an immortality-promising season ended in mass anti-climax, Jurgen Klopp and his merry men will be desperate to go again and begin the process of banishing the ghosts of that forgettable final week.

Ultimately, they were but a goal and point short of pulling off the greatest season of all time as it just wasn’t meant to be in the end.

So, with the disappointment of those last few days now firmly in the past, the Reds will turn their attention to the blank canvas that is the season upcoming.

While there have been a few changes in personnel, it seems that manager Klopp has not changed one bit as he embarked on a bit of a rant ahead of the Premier League curtain raiser at Leicester’s King Power Stadium.

For one reason or another, Klopp has developed a bit of reputation among football fans as being the kind of chap who likes to complain and, in his pre-match press conference on Friday, the stereotype rang true.

After Liverpool played in every single fixture available to them last season, 63, it is no surprise that Klopp is once again on the war path against the fixture lists.

What is a bit of a surprise, however, is that his annual campaign has started before the season has even had a chance to begin.

“I like the competition but again here I think it would be possible to find another date,” he said.

“It may be because we had a longer season than other teams and now we have a shorter pre-season than other teams, it doesn’t make much sense.”
