Liverpool: Potential ‘massive boost’ over Alexander-Arnold injury

It would be a ‘massive boost’ for Liverpool if defender Trent Alexander-Arnold returns to action soon than expected, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 23-year-old suffered a hamstring injury ahead of the Reds’ FA Cup clash with Nottingham Forest and was forced to withdraw from the latest England squad as a result.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp revealed that Alexander-Arnold is set to be sidelined for ‘weeks’ after picking up his latest fitness problem in training.

“Trent is out with hamstring so he cannot be part of England as well,” said Klopp. “No good news, we will see how long that takes. Weeks, yeah. It’s tricky, we will see how long it will take.”

However, the attack-minded right-back has given the club’s supporters hope that he may be able to return to action sooner than originally anticipated.

Alexander-Arnold shared an image of an exercise bike in a gym via Instagram Stories on his official page (via the Liverpool Echo), including a caption that read, ‘the comeback kid’ alongside some boxing gloves.

He then went on to display a training ground image from what is understood to be the NAS Sports Complex in Dubai, opening up the possibility of a speedy recovery.

Since making his first-team debut back in 2016, Alexander-Arnold has established himself as one of Liverpool’s most important players.

In 214 appearances for his boyhood club, the creative talent has registered 12 goals and a whopping 60 assists, claiming a Champions League crown and Premier League title along the way.
