Liverpool: Pep Guardiola's 2021 comments go viral amid Reds' struggles

Liverpool’s poor start to the season continued after dropping points against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds went into the game having won just two of their opening six Premier League games to start the season.

And they were unable to come away with all three points yet again after a lacklustre display at Anfield.

Liverpool fell 2-0 behind after just 17 minutes courtesy of Leandro Trossard’s brace.

Jurgen Klopp’s side came roaring back and took the lead courtesy of Roberto Firmino’s brace and Adam Webster’s own-goal.

But Trossard sealed his hat-trick with seven minutes remaining and Liverpool could not find a winner as the game ended 3-3.

Liverpool are now in 11th and are 11 points behind league leaders, Arsenal.

A Pep Guardiola interview has resurfaced following their draw against Brighton at Anfield.

Rio Ferdinand sat down with Guardiola before the 2021 Champions League final for BT Sport and asked him how he is able to get players to perform year after year.

“How difficult is it to do mentally? To get players to do it for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 years? How difficult is it to do that?” Ferdinand asks Guardiola.

Guardiola then says he is able to do it by changing player personnel, otherwise it is ‘impossible’ to do it.

He said: “You have to shake. You have to move. With the same guys, it is almost impossible. We change. After defeat or win, we change. Me included.

“At the beginning you accept things. But when you win, you accept less. When you are in the position you are not playing after playing, sometimes they don’t accept and have to move. You have to do it [change]. If you don’t it’s impossible.”
