Liverpool now readying 'final offer' for £81m star at Anfield

Liverpool will make a final push to tie Mohamed Salah down to a new Anfield contract by making a ‘take it or leave it’ offer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Sadio Mane is on his way to Bayern Munich after a deal worth £35.1million was agreed last week, but there are question marks over whether Salah – another key member of the Reds’ front three – could also leave Merseyside this summer.

Salah is facing an uncertain future as his current contract, which is worth £225,000-per-week, is due to expire next summer.

Liverpool have been hopeful of seeing Salah commit his long-term future to the club, but it is understood they will not be held to ransom after failing to find a compromise while the attacker looks to become one of the best-paid stars in the world.

Salah has reportedly been looking to secure a deal worth £500,000-per-week, meaning he would comfortably become the highest-earner in Liverpool’s entire history.

But, in an interview with FourFourTwo, he insisted that negotiations over a fresh agreement are not solely focused on securing a huge pay increase.

The 83-cap Egypt international has also reiterated his desire to remain at Anfield and is not fazed by the possibility of entering the final 12 months of his deal without knowing where his long-term future lies.

Jones believes Liverpool are readying a final contract offer which will be lodged before the 2022/23 campaign gets underway.
