Liverpool: Major update on whether Salah could join rival PL club

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is not going to join another ‘Premier League club’ following speculation over his future, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 29-year-old has reached an impasse in his contract negotiations with the Reds, and reports have suggested he could move to a direct rival during the summer transfer window.

According to The Guardian, Liverpool’s talks with Salah have broken down and he will not put pen to paper on fresh terms unless improved terms are offered to him.

The report goes on to state that the Egypt international’s preference remains to stay at Anfield, but he and his agent have dismissed the club’s most recent offer, and no talks have been held since December.

Salah’s existing deal is set to expire in 2023 and has previously stated how he is not asking for ‘crazy things’ and that he would ‘love’ to remain at Liverpool for the remainder his career.

However, an agreement between the club and the player appears to be a long way off still, opening the door to a potentially imminent exit.

FourFourTwo have claimed that Salah could make a shock switch to one of Liverpool’s domestic rivals, although did state that the prolific attacker would prefer to stay in the red half of Merseyside.

Since arriving at Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has established himself as one of the six-time European champions’ greatest ever players.

He’s registered 153 goals and 57 assists 239 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s charges, claiming a Champions League crown and Premier League title along the way as well as breaking into the club’s top 10 all-time top scorers.
