Liverpool injury news for Manchester United fixture as Jurgen Klopp given Diogo Jota boost

Manchester United’s renewed top four hopes will be immediately tested on Tuesday as they take on their old rivals Liverpool.

Having taken full advantage of their rivals’ slip-ups on Saturday to move back within three points of the top four, United head to Anfield knowing they’re right back in the running for that coveted Champions League spot. They now head into what could be a pivotal week for their top four hopes, with the toughest of challenges now around the corner.

Liverpool maintained their hopes of claiming an historic quadruple this season after beating Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals at the weekend. United know only too well just how dangerous Jurgen Klopp’s side can be, having been on the receiving end of a 5-0 thrashing earlier this season.

And there doesn’t look to be much comfort for United to take from Liverpool’s injury situation. Here’s how they stand ahead of Tuesday’s game.

Jota had been a slight doubt for Saturday’s semi-final, having been substituted just before the hour mark against Benfica in midweek. Klopp confirmed ahead of the game the Portugal international would need to undergo a late fitness test to determine whether he could feature or not.

Any fears Liverpool may have had over his fitness though were allayed as Jota was named on the bench, before making a late cameo as Klopp's side booked their place in the final. Whether he will be fit enough to start on Tuesday remains to be seen, but he will be expected to feature in some way.
