Liverpool 'in talks' with £35m Karim Adeyemi amid Mohamed Salah contract negotiations

Liverpool are reportedly 'in talks' for RB Salzburg hotshot Karim Adeyemi as the Reds explore attacking options amid Mohamed Salah's continued contract stand-off.

Uncertainty remains over the Egyptian's future with the star forward still yet to commit to a new deal at Anfield. Liverpool are understood to have tabled Salah a staggering offer which would see him earn a rumoured £400,000-per-week, however, as of yet, no agreement has been reached.

With the Reds running the risk of losing the 29-year-old on a free transfer when his current deal expires in the summer of 2023, Liverpool chiefs face the daunting prospect of losing their star man in the near future. With Salah's future still up in the air, it appears the Merseyside club have taken steps to recruit a potential replacement.

According to Sky Sport Germany, Liverpool have opened talks with RB Salzburg over striker Adeyemi. The 20-year-old has emerged as one of Europe's most exciting young stars having struck 20 goals in 38 appearances this season, including 16 in 24 Austrian Bundesliga outings alone.

It was thought Borussia Dortmund were leading the race for the German international as they plan for Erling Haaland's increasingly inevitable departure this summer. However, Liverpool look to have stolen a march in the battle to sign the starlet.

It is understood that a fee in the region of £35million will likely be enough to secure the striker's services. Though it has been touted Liverpool may sign Adeyemi as Salah's successor, it may well be the case that the Salzburg star is recruited to replace another Anfield forward.
