Liverpool FC confirm Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mo Salah injuries as Man City fixture approaches

Jurgen Klopp says Trent Alexander-Arnold will be out for Liverpool for a few weeks with a hamstring injury, putting his participation against Manchester City next month in doubt.

Influential right-back Alexander-Arnold has been ruled out of Liverpool's FA Cup trip to Nottingham Forest this weekend after picking up the hamstring problem after their Premier League win at Arsenal on Wednesday.

That win moved Liverpool to within a point of City as both sides have now played the same amount of fixtures. That makes the clash at the Etihad even more important, but Klopp says Alexander-Arnold may be ruled out.

Confirming the right-back's injury, Klopp said: “Trent is out with a hamstring. He cannot be part of England as well - no good news, we will see how long that takes."

When asked if Alexander-Arnold would be out for weeks, he replied 'yes', as well as confirming another setback for top scorer Mo Salah.

He said: “Mo felt his foot again a little bit after the game, so we have to see what we do with that and on top of that, some other bits and bobs and stuff like this so we have to wait. It is always like this. I want to have a team at Nottingham who is fresh enough physically and mentally for the game and really is going for it."
