Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp could open up Manchester United can of worms with VAR replay call

The Premier League circus is in town - and for once this season it doesn't involve Manchester United.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has gone into meltdown following the farcical decision to not allow Luis Diaz's goal against Tottenham Hotspur during the 2-1 defeat in north London. Everyone watching could see the incorrect call was made at the time, except the officials.

Following the release of the audio of the incident by the PGMOL on Tuesday, things aren't looking any better for the VAR officials - a clear and obvious error if ever we've seen one. Darren England thought the on-field decision had been onside and so on-field referee Simon Hooper ruled the goal out.

The panic in the clip was as audible as the Entry of the Gladiators. Everyone in the room knew the circus had now well and truly pitched up.

Enter ringmaster Klopp, who rarely needs an excuse to spur on his audience at the best of times. Rightly aggrieved at the situation, the Liverpool boss has now called for the match to be replayed altogether.

"The audio didn’t change it at all. It is an obvious mistake," he said. "I think there should be solutions for that. I think the outcome should be a replay.

"The argument against that would be it opens the gates. It is unprecedented, it has not happened before.

"I’m used to wrong and difficult decisions, but something like this never happened and so that is why I think a replay is the right thing to do."
