Liverpool fan has Champions League final ticket destroyed by her dog

Liverpool will compete in their third Champions League final in five years when they face Real Madrid in Paris on May 28.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will go into the showpiece occasion as slight favourites to win the competition for the seventh time.

If they do lift the trophy at the Stade de France, the club may well have completed an unprecedented quadruple.

The Reds have already won both domestic trophies – the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup – beating Chelsea on penalties on both occasions.

This weekend, they’re praying for a minor miracle as they look to pip Manchester City to the Premier League title. They need to beat Wolves at Anfield and hope City fail to triumph over Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa.

Whatever happens in the climax of the Premier League, winning the Champions League will round off an incredible campaign for Liverpool.

The competition remains the biggest prize in European club football and tens of thousands of Kopites will travel across the channel in the hope they can bring ‘Old Big Ears’ back to Merseyside.

Much has been made of the decision to give each club 19,000 tickets for a 75,000 capacity stadium. A Champions League ticket final ticket is about as difficult to get your hands on as Willy Wonka’s Golden Ticket. If you are lucky enough to have landed the ticket, you wouldn’t be blamed if you kept it on your person at all times for the next week.

Well, one Liverpool fan will be wishing she did that anyway.

In a now-deleted tweet, Twitter user @Shona_C_ wrote: “Anyone want a dog??” alongside an image of a Champions League ticket in tatters. In the image, you can clearly see “Liverpool vs Real Madrid” and the correct date and venue. It certainly appears to be a genuine ticket.
