Liverpool: Divock Origi’s highlights shown in viral video as he nears exit

Divock Origi looks set to be the latest player to leave Liverpool on a free transfer.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the 26-year-old centre-forward is close to agreeing a deal to join AC Milan, with the Belgian’s contract at Anfield coming to a conclusion this June.

Meanwhile, Milan are looking for a new forward, with their key strikers Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud turning 41 and 36 later this year.

It would be an attractive move for Origi, who would likely be guaranteed more regular football with the Italian giants.

And for Milan, they’ll be getting an experienced yet youthful player who, since joining the Reds from Lille in 2014, has become a cult hero at Anfield, being an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s 2019 Champions League and 2020 Premier League winning sides.

Known for his poacher’s attitude to scoring goals, Origi has amassed 171 appearances for the club, yielding 40 goals and 17 assists during that time.

And many of those strikes came inside the final 30 minutes of the game, including his 96th-minute winner against Everton in the 2018 Merseyside Derby.

He really is the master of the last-gasp goal.

But he will always be treasured by Liverpool fans for the brace of strikes he scored in their incredible 2018/2019 Champions League semi-final win against Barcelona, where he netted the winning goal that sent Liverpool to the final and Anfield into meltdown.

And having been such a great servant to the club, Liverpool fans have been reminiscing at a highlights reel of the Belgian’s most memorable moments playing in a red shirt.
