Liverpool are sweating on the fitness of attacking duo Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota ahead of the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea.
Both sides, who will be competing in the showpiece event at Wembley next Sunday, were in Premier League action on Saturday afternoon against Crystal Palace and Norwich respectively.
It was already known on Friday afternoon that Jota had no chance of featuring at Anfield this weekend due to a knock picked up against Inter Milan midweek.
"No he will not be available. We need further assessment. Some ligaments around the ankle. Everything is possible. It could go quick or the other way. We have to wait," he said in his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon via the Liverpool Echo.
"Hopefully it will be really quick (recovery)."
Fast forward to the morning of the Canaries clash and another player fell foul to an injury in the form of Brazilian Firmino whose absence meant that Sadio Mane had to lead the line in a false nine type of spot.
The Liverpool Echo understand that the 30-year-old versatile forward missed out for this home game due to a muscle injury which needs to be assessed further.
