Liverpool could turn to former Luis Diaz team-mate after successful Porto negotiations

The transfer rumour mill being what it is, it’s inevitable that two clubs can be linked together for numerous potential deals involving their players. As Liverpool have already benefitted from their signing of Luis Diaz, they are reportedly interested in purchasing further talent from Porto.

First, they were linked with Otavio, an attacking midfielder with whom Diaz linked up well during their time together, and now Defensa Central (via BBC) have reported that the Reds are interested in Vitinha. It has even been claimed Pep Lijnders (a former Porto coach) has been keeping an eye on the player personally.

And the Liverpool coach has previous for using his Porto connections, having successfully helped the Reds sign Luis Diaz in January.

The 22-year-old, who made his international debut for Portugal on Tuesday, would supposedly cost 40million euros, with Real Madrid another club who are interested in securing his signature. While that appears relatively expensive for a player with only 50 league appearances under his belt, with only two years remaining on his current contract Vitinha may make a more realistic target for Liverpool than Otavio, who has three.

Indeed, the ECHO understands that Otavio certainly isn't on Liverpool's radar for the time being.

If Vitinha sounds familiar, it’s because he spent last season on loan at Wolves, making a late cameo in their 4-0 defeat at Anfield. He made a slightly greater impression when facing the Reds in the Champions League this season as he had Porto’s first clear-cut chance of the match in Portugal, which Liverpool won 5-1.
