Liverpool could strike again after securing first refusal for Fabio Vieira transfer over Arsenal

FC Porto have given Liverpool first refusal in the transfer battle for midfield talent Fabio Vieira, according to a report.

It’s safe to say that Liverpool’s most recent signing, Luis Diaz, has been a success. He also arrived from Porto during the January transfer window and has quickly settled in. For their next shopping trip, Liverpool could be looking the same way.

They have now built a squad capable of competing for major honours. On Saturday, they added the FA Cup to their trophy haul for the season, having already lifted the Carabao Cup.

With a Champions League final to look forward to and still in the running in the Premier League, Liverpool have enjoyed one of their strongest seasons in recent memory. But they could be looking to improve even further.

The signing of Diaz showed the benefits of squad depth in attack, just as the addition of Ibrahima Konate last summer has helped them in defence. Now, the next area they may want to add another option to is midfield.

In that regard, they could be one of the contenders to sign Diaz’s former teammate, Fabio Vieira. According to the Sunday Mirror, Liverpool have secured first refusal when it comes to the battle for his services.

They have developed a good relationship with Porto, having spent big to sign Diaz in January. A few months before, they also sold Marko Grujic to the Portuguese side after a productive loan spell.

Now, the two clubs could do business again for Vieira. About to turn 22, the midfielder has been a first-team player for Porto since 2020.

This season, he has contributed an impressive 16 assists and seven goals from 39 appearances in all competitions. It all culminated in a league title win for Porto.
