Liverpool 'close' to completing £10m signing after Darwin Nunez at Anfield

Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Aberdeen teenager Calvin Ramsay, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Reds are on the verge of making Benfica striker Darwin Nunez their record transfer, but Jones believes Jurgen Klopp’s side are not far off confirming another incoming.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are set to reach an agreement with the Scottish outfit for the 18-year-old, with the deal set to cost the Anfield club around £10m, £5m up front with a further £5m with add ons and clauses.

Ramsay enjoyed an impressive breakout season at Pittodrie last term, catching the attention with one goal and nine assists in his 39 appearances in all competitions.

James Milner and Joe Gomez played in Alexander-Arnold’s absence last season, but Ramsay’s arrival should allow the duo to play in their best positions.

Despite Nunez’s monster deal from Benfica grabbing the deadlines, Jones still believes Ramsay’s move to Anfield is more good news for the Reds.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s close. It’s one they’ve been working on in the background for a few weeks. This isn’t one that’s going to get people super excited, but he is a good player.”
