With the transfer window open for just short of another 10 weeks and Liverpool not even back in pre-season training until July 4, it might seem premature to assess the Reds’ transfer business as early as late-June. Yet while Jurgen Klopp’s side’s title-rivals still have plenty of wheeling and dealing to do on the transfer front, it’s a rather different story at Anfield despite us being in the formative weeks of the summer.
Having signed Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay, parting with an initial £73.1m which could rise to £99.2m, Liverpool’s incoming transfer business is by all accounts finished, with word from Anfield insisting Jurgen Klopp will not add to his squad any further. As a result, having revamped the Reds’ attack in 2022, a new midfielder is now the priority for summer 2023 instead.
Despite such a stance leaving a feeling that Liverpool could be left short in midfield this season, club sources insist the Reds have signed exactly what they felt needed and wanted this summer. In truth, such grumbles pale in comparison to the negative noise
