Liverpool, Arsenal, Brighton - Man City are about to discover who their closest title rivals are

Six games into their Premier League title defence and Manchester City look to be making easy work of their fixture list.

Six wins from six for only the second time under Pep Guardiola has City top of the table by six points, two ahead of Liverpool and three above Roberto De Zerbi's exciting Brighton team. Arsenal and Tottenham's 2-2- draw in the north London derby has them four behind City in fourth and fifth as the early pacesetters look to separate themselves from the rest of the pack.

City will travel to Arsenal in two games' time before welcoming Brighton to the Etihad in two games which should test their early title credentials, while Liverpool and Spurs also have testing fixtures. By the time the season is past the October international break, the potential title contenders should have started to emerge from the teams who have simply had a good start.

City may be without Rodri for the next two Premier League games, and are still without four important first-teamers, but would expect to maintain their perfect start at Wolves next weekend. After that, the trip to Arsenal will be a test without the integral midfielder, but Guardiola will know how important victories at the Emirates have been to the last two title races.

When the domestic action returns following the international break, the home clash with Brighton will be another test of City's desire to make it four titles in a row.
