Liverpool and Nike unveil new home kit for 2022/23 season

Liverpool and Nike have unveiled the club’s new 2022/23 home kit.

The club say the kit is inspired by the attitude of ‘Scouse solidarity’ and reflects the mentality of its people - one that makes Liverpool truly unique.

The kit includes intricate YNWA detailing on the sleeve cuff, said to represent the bond between the fans and the club. And on the reverse, the 97-emblem encased by the eternal flames sits at the nape of the neck in memory of those children, women and men who lost their lives at Hillsborough.

The change from 96 to 97 is in recognition of Andrew Stanley Devine, the 97th person unlawfully killed as a result of the Hillsborough disaster.

Speaking on the kit, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson said: “We’re all so proud to wear the Liverpool FC jersey and be part of the swoosh family. We know exactly what this jersey means to our fans, and we can’t wait to run out in it at Anfield.”

Henderson is featured in a campaign video launched by the club. It also includes fellow men's players Virgil Van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, Luis Diaz, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ibrahima Konate, plus manager Jurgen Klopp, who unleashes his trademark fist pump. Also featured are Liverpool Women's manager Matt Beard along with members of his squad, Missy Bo-Kearns, Taylor Hinds and Leighanne Robe, plus Scouse musician Kieo (Boss Nights) and local boxer Natasha Jonas. Liverpool band Stone supply the soundtrack.

The kits are sustainably made, using 100% recycled polyester fabric, which is made from recycled plastic bottles. This is part of Nike’s wider Move to Zero initiative and in line with the club's 'The Red Way' initiative.

The club has introduced a new Liverpool name and number style for the back of the kit,
