Liverpool: £130k-a-week star 'not happy with situation' at Anfield

Liverpool star Naby Keita is ‘not happy with his situation’ and could look to secure a move away from Anfield before the transfer window closes, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The Reds forked out £52.75million to sign the central midfielder from German side RB Leipzig four years ago, but there are question marks over whether he will still be on Merseyside beyond the September 1 deadline.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Keita is set to hold talks over his future with the Liverpool hierarchy.

The Sky Sport Germany reporter suggests the 45-cap Guinea international is unhappy after discussions over a new contract have broken down and his departure is a distinct possibility.

Keita’s current deal – which is worth £130,000-per-week – is due to expire next summer, meaning Liverpool are running out of time to tie him down to a fresh agreement or cash-in.

The 27-year-old has not enjoyed a single minute of game-time since the Premier League campaign got underway earlier this month.

Having missed the season opener at Fulham due to illness, Keita was unavailable for the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on Monday after suffering an injury, so he is set for another spell on the sidelines.

Sheth understands that Keita is unhappy at Liverpool and will not be signing a new deal in the near future.

The journalist told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s an interesting situation because this came from the very reliable Florian Plettenberg from our colleagues at Sky in Germany.

“He said that Naby Keita is not happy with his situation. Keita is into the final year of his contract and there’s no sign of him extending that contract just now.

“It was very interesting what happened yesterday because he wasn’t in the squad at all for that game
