Liverpool 1-0 West Ham: Premier League – as it happened

LIVE – Updated at 20:15

Minute-by-minute report: Sadio Mane scored the only goal of the game as West Ham spurned several gilt-edged invitations to equalise. Scott Murray was watching.

David Moyes, still to taste victory at Anfield, talks to Sky. “It was a much better performance and good performances tend to lead to better results. We didn’t quite get the good result today. We’ve come here recently and come close a couple of times. We tried to make it as difficult as we can. I thought if we got a clean sheet we would win the game, and we probably should, because we had enough chances. We want to be attack minded. There were times we had to suffer without the ball, and they started very well. But we grew into it, had shots on goal, and in the second half late on, if any team was going to get a goal, it would be us. We just needed a little bit of class at the end, but we’ve been lacking that in recent weeks. I’m going to the next game, try to get the best team out, try to win it, and if we buckle somewhere along the road, we know it’s because we don’t have a strong enough squad. But we might as well keep having a go at it, see where it ends up.”

Jurgen Klopp speaks to Sky. “We may remember this game as one of the most important ones, because it was a tricky fixture in the first place. We did the first half really well. We know about all the different things West Ham are really good at, and we denied them in all of the situations. We played a good game and could have scored more but didn’t. And then the second half starts with a massive chance for Bowen, which was the first time we didn’t defend Antonio properly. That was a kick start for them, and around the second balls we were not as good as we were in the first half.
