LIVE: Woodhead Pass shut both ways after serious incident - latest updates

The Woodhead Pass is closed off this afternoon following a serious incident.

Emergency services are on the scene on the A628 - one of the main routes between Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire. The road is closed off both ways between the A57 near Hollingworth and the A616 Flouch Roundabout.

The road is likely to remain closed throughout the afternoon while police investigate, according to Highways England. Derbyshire Police officers are on the scene.

Drivers have been warned to expect delays. Traffic is being diverted away from the closure via local routes, with drivers travelling from further afield advised to use the M62.
