Live updates from the Welsh independence march in Cardiff

A march for Welsh independence is set to take place in Cardiff on Saturday, October 1. It will be the second march to take place in the Welsh capital which is hosted by AUOBCymru (All Under One Banner) and YesCymru.

Thousands of people are expected to attend the march which will start at 12pm at Windsor Place. It will travel along Queen Street, The Hayes, Mill Lane, St Mary's Street, High Street and Duke Street, before heading back to Windsor Place via Queen Street for a rally.

The rally will include speeches by House of the Dragon actor Julian Lewis Jones, actress and novelist Ffion Dafis, former Plaid Cymru leader Dafydd Wigley and many more. You can get more Welsh news and other story updates straight to your inbox by subscribing to our newsletters here.

A similar event was hosted in Wrexham in July where around 8,000 campaigners took to the streets to show their support for an independent Wales. Previous marches have been held in Caernarfon and Merthyr Tydfil as well as in Cardiff where the first ever march was held in May, 2019.
