Live updates as Tom Lockyer collapses during match and game abandoned

Wales defender Tom Lockyer has collapsed on the pitch for the second time in a matter of months with the referee having to halt the game. Lockyer caused major concern when he fell to the ground off the ball at Wembley back in May, just 10 minutes into the play-off final, and he was unable to get up as a result.

And now the Luton captain has collapsed again during the Premier League match against Bournemouth this afternoon, with manager Rob Edwards sprinting on to the pitch after he saw his skipper fall.

Referee Simon Hooper took the decision to take the players off the pitch and they went down the tunnel as the Luton fans sung Lockyer's name. He later decided to call the game off, with Lockyer said to be "alert and responsive in the tunnel", according to the BBC.

Luton Town later said in a statement: "We all hope and pray for our leader and captain Tom Lockyer, who is thankfully responsive and has been taken to hospital. We don’t know the full extent of what happened and what the next steps are at this stage, but we thank Bournemouth and the medical staff on both sides for their immediate response, which was absolutely amazing."
