Live updates as three-vehicle crash on A48 causes long delays

An air ambulance has landed near the scene of a three-vehicle accident that has closed part of the A48 in Carmarthenshire. The road is closed in both directions between Porthyrhyd and Cross Hands.

Police are at the scene and there is a diversion in place via the B4310. Traffic monitoring system Inrix says: "A48 in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to accident between Porthyrhyd and the Cross Hands roundabout."

The area is expected to be busy today as the getaway begins at the start of the school summer holidays. At just before 1.20pm Traffic Wales said that the road remained closed and there were delays of between 20 minutes and an hour.
