Live updates as teenage cyclist seriously injured in Mountain Ash crash
An 18-year-old cyclist has life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Mountain Ash on Tuesday morning. Officers were called at around 7.43am to reports of a road traffic collision between a cyclist and a Honda Civic on Abercynon Road, Penrhiwceiber.
Police said that the cyclist, from Mountain Ash, has been taken to the University Hospital of Wales with what are described as life threatening injuries. The police statement added: "An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation."
The road was closed for two hours as investigations were carried out at the scene. It was shut from the Cynon Garage at Glamorgan Street to Glasbrook Terrace at Penrhiwceiber.
