Live updates as Sue Gray report on Downing Street lockdown parties due to be published in full
The report on lockdown parties at Downing Street is reported to be published later today. The result of an investigation by civil servant Sue Gray, it details the events that politicians and Government officials attending events during lockdown.
Ms Gray had published an interim version of her report which said there had been "failures of leadership and judgement" in Number 10 and the Cabinet Office. The publication of the full report was put on pause due to the Met Police investigation which saw 126 fines handed out by the police to 83 people. The Prime Minister and his wife Carrie were both issued with £50 fixed penalty notices last month for breaking Covid laws at a birthday party for Mr Johnson in Downing Street in June 2020.
While it had been widely expected the Prime Minister would face further fines, he did not, and the Met Police announced last week it had concluded its investigation having examined 510 photographs, as well as CCTV images, emails, logs of entries into buildings, diary entries and witness statements as well as 204 questionnaires from people who had attended events.
The Prime Minister had repeatedly committed to attending the House of Commons and facing questions from MPs once the police investigation was concluded and the report published.
